8/11/2023 0 Comments King of dim sumSome of us scraped out the filling and just ate the fluffy bao. Roast Pork Bun (Char sui bao) we were disappointed with the filling, it didn’t taste nice. Pork Dumpling in Chilli Oil Sauce – absolutely delicious, definitely one of our favourite dumplings by far with the sweet chilli oil sauce, we should have ordered more – strongly recommend! Shanghai Pork Dumpling (Xiaolongbao) was very flavoursome but I didn’t grab it gracefully and by the time I got to eat it, most of the soup had fallen out. Prawn Dumplings (Har Gow) was delicious, but I preferred their wonton prawn dumpling which I thought was much juicier. The girls loved it as it was warm and comforting, especially coming in from the cold. As our orders kept coming we realised then why the lady was right to have stopped us from ordering more. We ordered bolay tea for the table – a great palate cleanser in my opinion. The restaurant was small but very cosy, I’m glad we had a bigger table for the 3 of us. We had been very excited to try this restaurant as their dim sum and dumplings were made onsite, with their very experienced dim sum chef of 30 years. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs as per usual. The lady had to stop us from the amount we ordered and advised us to come back again to try the rest. We waited in the queue for an hour and 15 minutes, but we ordered when we were nearer to the entrance. Once we walked down King’s Cross Road, there was already a huge queue in sight and this was at 12.10pm and they open at 12pm, so I recommend you go half an hour before the restaurant opens. It’s an easy find using City Mapper or Google Maps and takes about 5 to 8 minutes’ walk from the station. Dim Sum & Duck is located close to King’s Cross station.
